Boss Update


Summary:

The first boss phase has been finished and some changes to how the player's abilities work have been adjusted.

Detailed description:

This week has consisted of minor bug fixing through testing mechanics on new things in the game, including some balance changes. I have then proceeded to set up animations and attacks for the Ronin boss. I have also altered the players counter attack to apply damage to the boss and teleport the boss a set distance away from the player. Currently the boss waits for the player to pick up the sword and equip it before attacking during this state the boss cannot take any damage. The boss deflects projectiles from the player so using the default firing mode is not viable. Further more, if the charge shot is used, the boss has two options, using a boolean with weight to determine the outcome, Ronin will dodge either left or right, alternatively he will get the projectile that has collided with him and essentially spawn his own version using the data from the charge shot e.g. damage, scale etc. From here if the player is hit with this projectile it will likely mean death, however using the barrier the player could absorb the damage from that and restore their health. The boss also has animations and phase 1 all in working order. This includes him walking and facing towards the player, having the chance to activate soulshift himself. However unlike the player he doesn't have to charge it nor does it take away any health, during this it also determines whether he is in buff 1 or 2, if he is in 2 he will unleash blade beams. If the player is too close for any length of time the boss will do a shout and send the player away from him. When Ronin has received a set amount of damage phase 1 stops and 2 begins. Currently there is no death animation or cutscene so it feels a bit anticlimactic. That said its more to work on. The player's stats have been altered as well as his counter and shinkansen.
